Caterpillar introduces the 315D L Excavator, a high-performance, easy-to-operate machine that delivers 5 percent more horsepower and as much as 8 percent more lift capacity than the 315C L, which it replaces. Higher hydraulic pressures boost performance and efficiency, and the new 115-horsepower (86-kilowatt) engine meets U.S. EPA Tier 3 emissions regulations and delivers more work per gallon of fuel.

The Cat® Fusion™ Wheel Loader Coupler System pulls the coupler and work tool closer to the wheel loader for machine performance comparable to pin-on—with all the versatility and flexibility of a coupler. The patented design moves the center of gravity closer to the machine, yet the coupler enables the loader to conveniently pick up and use a wide range of work tools.
MT900C Machine Target for Use with AccuGradeTM ATS for Motor Graders, Track-Type Tractors
The introduction of the MT900C Active Machine Target or Advanced Tracking Sensor (ATS) for AccuGradeTM ATS systems broadens Caterpillar's reach into the machine control and guidance industry through the addition of support for AccuGrade ATS on both motor graders and track-type tractors. The motor grader or dozer operator can conduct real-time fine grading operations with increased accuracy without fear of losing instrument lock.
AccuGradeTM V10.8 Software Upgrade
Caterpillar announces the release of AccuGradeTM CD700 V10.8 software with availability in late March, 2008. The CD700 V10.8 software provides support for the HEX ARO and 613G Wheel Tractor-Scraper. The HEX ARO uses potentiometers for the boom and stick measurements, plus a position sensing bucket cylinder (PSC) for instantaneous bucket cylinder length measurements.

Caterpillar® Diesel Particulate Filter System For Off-Highway Machines Earns California Approval
The Caterpillar® Diesel Particulate Filter System for off-highway machines has earned Level 3 Plus verification from the California Environmental Protection Agency Air Resources Board. The verification formally recognizes the Caterpillar passive filter system as effective and reliable in achieving at least an 85 percent reduction in particulate matter exhaust emissions. The system also meets the California 2009 regulation governing nitrogen dioxide emissions.
